Earwax

Natural Choice #3 is Earwax.

Earwax "is a yellowish waxy substance secreted in the ear canal of humans and other mammals (Wikipedia-Earwax)." It's technical name is cerumen. Earwax is a Natural Choice because of the critical role it plays in protecting our bodies.

Many people have the habit of using a cotton swap to regularly remove their earwax. Such a practice is not natural, it is preventing an important defense the body has to protect the ear.

Wikipedia says that earwax "protects the skin of the human ear canal, assists in cleaning and lubrication, and also provides some protection from bacteria, fungi, insects and water (Wikipedia-Earwax)."

Despite it's value earwax is often routinely removed.
"Unfortunately, many people mistakenly believe that earwax should be routinely removed for personal hygiene. This is not so. In fact, attempting to remove Earwax with cotton-tipped swabs, bobby pins, or other probing devices can result in damage to the ear, including trauma, impaction of the Earwax, or even temporary deafness. These objects only push the wax in deeper, and can block the ear canal entirely (As Quoted in Secretion Secrets: Things You Didn't Know About Earwax (Dr. Mercola, March 29, 2014)."
The following are some articles that provide further elaboration on the importance of adopting the natural lifestyle of leaving one's earwax alone.
If you leave your earwax alone and let it run the course of it's natural process of ear protection, it will eventually leave the outer ear during a shower. Some people may have medical conditions that they need to see a health care provider about excess earwax. If you are in that boat, then please seek medical guidance. It may be necessary to have some cases of excessive earwax removed professionally. However, the majority of people should consider leaving that earwax alone. It's the natural thing to do.

Green Beans

Natural Choice #2 is Green Beans.

Green Beans

Green beans are vegetables that also may be known as snap beans or string beans. They are actually the unripe fruit of common bean (Phaseolius vulgaris) plants. Green Beans are a Natural Right because they provide important health benefits.

Green beans are high in fiber and are also a good source of "vitamin A, vitamin C, vitamin K, manganese, iron, potassium, folate, calcium, magnesium and thiamin (Diet Health Club)."

Here is a livelife365 video on the benefits of eating green beans.

The following is a Facebook post by Dr. Isaac Eliaz with an image illustrating the health benefits of green beans.

You can read more about green beans at their Wikipedia Page.

The following website articles explain more about the health benefits of green beans.

A Beard

Natural Choice #1 is a Beard.

A beard is "the collection of hair that grows on the chin, upper lip, cheeks and neck of human beings (Wikipedia-Beard)." It occurs naturally for many men and grows unless held in check with a razor. Beards are a natural choice because of the health benefits they provide to those men that are able and willing to grow a beard.

Here is a YouTube video on 7 Health Benefits of Having a Beard.

Congratulations to all those men who are able to grow a beard. But if you are a woman or a man who doesn't have a beard because you wouldn't want one or couldn't grow one, there will be plenty of other natural choices on this blog in the future that relates to you.

Vitamin Program (2011)

This post was moved to Natural Right from the Light Stop blog. It is a record of the vitamins I took at the start of 2011. Some have changed since then.

I’ve noticed an improvement in my health this last year and attribute it in part to taking vitamins. Here’s the type of vitamins I try to take daily.

Aloe Vera Juice – Fruit of the Earth makes a 99.9% pure aloe vera juice and their products are readily available at stores such as Wal-Mart. Aloe Vera Juice has many benefits including these top ten benefits.
Calcium/Magnesium- Thorne Research makes a citrus powder that has both Calcium and Magnesium. One thing people often don’t realize is that just taking Calcium without Magnesium can be counter productive. Our bones need Magnesium to help process the Calcium properly.
IodineDesigns for Health provides Iodine Synergy that is just the right amount (10mg). Iodine is an essential mineral for the thyroid and has other benefits as well. Our society is correctly warning about the danger of salt but we still need Iodine in our bodies.
Multiple Vitamin -I have tried various brands of multiple vitamins but this year will be taking One A Day Men’s Health Formula from Bayer Health Care.
Omega-3 Fish Oil- I use Natrol brand that has a lemon flavor to it. Omega-3 is believed to support heart, eye, and bone health. It is anti-flammatory which means it is ideal for pain and is being studied for a link to the prevention of Alzheimers if taken prior to onset (though it may not cure it once it has started).
Super Fruit- I use Schiff brand with noni, mangosteen, acai, and pomegranate. This is a powerful antioxidant that boosts immune health.
Vitamin B- Source Naturals makes a Conenzymate B Complex. Many are unaware that the stomach kills most of the Vitamin B sent to it, so a conenzymate really is in the best form for Vitamin B as it enters the bloodstream through the tongue.

Vitamin C -Ester-C is the brand of Vitamin C I take. The immune system benefits of Vitamin C are critical.

Vitamin D – Thorne Research makes an excellent Vitamin D product that has 5,000 units, which seems to be just the right amount. I rarely spend time in the sun, working inside an office building during the day and living in Michigan (enough said), so this is the only way I get the all important Vitamin D.
